Beyond the Torch Run was a community arts engagement project; bringing together art and the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Beyond the Torch Run was also granted the prestigious Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme.

The principal aim was to celebrate the diverse and unique landscapes between Seaford and Lewes, through print, photography, storytelling, soundscape, and illustration.

A Map of Local Perspective was created through an interactive website where residents and visitors to the area could upload images and text relating to their favourite places. Printed copies of the map were distributed via the Tourist information centre, train stations and local cafes.

Kristina Veasey says of the project…

“I brought together artists from different disciplines to inspire members of our community to explore a sense of place. We then exhibited all the work at the Crypt gallery, Seaford and invited others to come beyond the torch run and share in their creative works”
