It's all coming together! Fabulous work with parti It's all coming together! Fabulous work with participants at the @paralympicheritage workshop, with @stitchingkitchen today.

Great example of community connection and sharing stories through art. I'm amazed at what they've achieved in one day and can't wait to see the finished piece join the portable pop-up museum.

Fuel for thought also, in terms of my Slow Art explorations, and assessing the feasibility of rolling out some online workshops of my own. More musings on that soon..

Just working out designs for today's workshop with Just working out designs for today's workshop with @paralympicheritage and @stitchingkitchen
Today is all about paralympic costumes from opening ceremonies. Linking Dorset buttons with wheelchair wheels, the paralympic cauldron, and stitching together the global diversity of a spectacular international event. Oh, and did I mention Prospero's coat? Lots of buttons inspired by the coat Ian Mckellen wore in the 2012 paralympic opening ceremony.

I'm exploring some new approaches to my work: Slow I'm exploring some new approaches to my work: Slow Art, and Creative Bathing.

Emerging from the forest bathing I incorporated into my previous work (Basketcase, and Meander) in the Forest of Dean, I am looking at developing a similarly immersive approach to my creative practice.

I live my work. We are intertwined, often for months, or years. My brain works on several channels at once, meaning there are not many minutes of the day where I am not developing my ideas or reflecting on them. I carry them with me whatever I'm doing, be it domestic chores, childcare, driving, working on other projects, chatting to people, or watching TV, and this brings rich and multi layered nuances to the end piece, that would not otherwise arise. I don't know how to work any other way. I don't think I could work differently even if I wanted to, as the energy limitations and other disabling aspects of my impairments, mean a longer lead-in time is often necessary. Besides, I like to play with ideas and percolate them.

I ought to say here that despite exploring a Slow Art approach, my working pace is not slow at all, it is actually very fast. I have a 100mph brain and am never short of ideas. I'm a hard worker, pay attention to detail, and work until I drop, if need be. But, that is often a problem in itself, and it needs addressing. I can't guarantee I won't suddenly be out of action for a few days, or that changes in timetables or project over-runs won't have a massive impact on me. I can't just make up lost time, or summon an extra day of wellness because it's needed. My well-time is rationed, and it's essential that everything remains in balance.

I will share more about what I mean by Slow Art as my explorations progress. Trying to find ways to maintain this balance, and to be more affective in my self-advocacy of it, will be interesting. I'm already exploring some of these things 'on the job' and have quickly found where things don't work, and also found some things that do.

I'd also love to hear other people's thoughts and their own approaches to combining their access needs within their artistic process.

Some cross-pollination happening in the Forest! S Some cross-pollination happening in the Forest!

So lovely to be bringing two of my projects into the same biosphere. The Helens from @inbetweentime who are my fabulous partners for Capturing the Forest, met with Eira and Sarah from the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust (who are also supporting the project) at my newly installed sculpture, Meander, in its setting on @theforestofdeansculpturetrail

I'll be partnering with leading Brazilian sound and movement artist @alejandroahmed Together we'll be collaborating with the brilliant @inbetweentime and also supported by @festivalpanorama and @theforestofdeansculpturetrail I can't wait to get started!

"Capturing the Forest
Collaborating between Brazil and the UK, Kristina Veasey and Alejandro Ahmed collaborate with In Between Time to create immersive performance installations. Together they explore and capture the experience of forest, using call and response, mirroring birds calling to each other. They share their perspectives and their different artforms (visual arts and movement). Online and in-person audiences can ‘enter’ the forest using interactive technology.”

Steam-bent oak bench, emulating the winding and weaving through barriers found in nature, and in our own lives.

With thanks to all the installation team, and to @charliewhinneystudio @weareunltd @theforestofdeansculpturetrail for all their work in rain and shine this morning. Fingers crossed the rain stays away for completing it this afternoon!

Enjoying some time exploring archives for a new co Enjoying some time exploring archives for a new commission. Yesterday I was drawing some of the architectural flourishes that form part of the byzantine style of the @bristol_beacon building, with a view to turning them into patterns for fabric design.
Always curious to see what new life comes from mirroring images. Anyone else notice the sudden emergence of a cartoon frog in the repeating pattern?
